Founded in 2006 by the women business lawyers at BrazeauSeller.LLP, Sisters-in-Law brings business and professional women together in networking, educational and charitable activities.

Sisters-in-Law is an opportunity for career minded women to connect, learn new ideas, develop contacts, and receive additional guidance and support from business women in all walks of life. The events also encourage members and attendees to be philanthropic by including donations to local charities.

Urban Element Event

The members of Sisters in Law hosted an intimate evening of learning, exploring and connecting with some of Ottawa's top professional women.  The event took place at Ottawa's distinct venue, urbanelement.  The night was filled with food and wine, complete with a cooking demonstration and instruction by a renowned Ottawa chef.

For the second year in a row, the members of Sisters-in-Law volunteered their time at the Salvation Army's Toy Mountain to assist in sorting and distributing toys to Ottawa's less fortunate children.

The members of Sisters-in-Law volunteered their time during the holiday season to help the Salvation Army distribute toys to Ottawa's less fortunate children. The Salvation Army estimated that 11,000 children received gifts in the Ottawa region.

Cherry Pie Event
Feb. 27, 2007

The women business lawyers of BrazeauSeller.LLP partnered with Cherry Pie, a women's networking group known for its entertaining and empowering events, to provide female entrepreneurs and business owners with a list of Top Ten Business Tips. The spectacular event was held at Social Restaurant & Lounge.

Sisters-in-Law teamed up with Holt Renfrew to host an evening of fun and fashion at Holt Renfrew’s Ottawa store. Guests enjoyed delicious appetizers and wine from Culinary Conspiracy, and were treated to a fashion show displaying this season’s top fashion trends. 

Sisters-in-Law and its guests donated over 400 pieces of gently used business attire to the Rainbow Skills Development Centre, which is a not-for-profit organization that provides computer training and administrative skills to both men and women, allowing them to enter or re-enter the work force. 2% of all sales from the evening were also donated by Holt Renfrew to the Rainbow Skills Development Centre.

At the inaugural Sisters-in-Law event, the women business attorneys of BrazeauSeller.LLP saluted the nominees for the 2005 Businesswoman of the Year award, sponsored by the Ottawa Women’s Business Network and the Ottawa Citizen.

At a gala reception held at the Ottawa Congress Centre on Tuesday March 28, 2006, Sisters-in-Law presented each attendee with a “Think Pink” bracelet in support of the Ontario Chapter of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, whose mission is to create a future without breast cancer.

Along with the band, each attendee had a ticket number to win one of six unique, custom designed “Bracelets of Hope,” consisting of rose quartz, pink freshwater pearls, pink Swarovski crystals, and a sterling silver heart toggle and awareness ribbon. These individual hand-made bracelets were designed by WendyRachel Jewelery.
