A lawyer with BrazeauSeller.LLP since 1999, Najma practices in the area of civil litigation.

In addition to her litigation practice with BrazeauSeller.LLP, Najma also has a personal injury and insurance litigation practice with BrazeauSeller’s sister law firm, Howard Yegendorf & Associates.

Najma’s practice includes a diverse range of complex litigation matters. Her main passion is battling insurance companies on behalf of her clients on issues concerning insurance coverage disputes, bad faith and, where clients are injured, damages. She is well-versed in Ontario’s Insurance Act and its regulations, including the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule. In addition to the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, she has represented clients in dispute resolution proceedings before the Financial Services Commission of Ontario. Najma has developed an expertise in disability and bad faith claims against insurance companies, and participates in the Long-Term Disability Section of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association.

In her pursuit of being an effective advocate for her clients, Najma frequently attends workshops and seminars on trial advocacy, evidence, insurance and other litigation-related subjects. She is a member of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association and the Advocates Society, as well as a supporter of organizations such as REACH Canada, the Ontario Brain Injury Association and the Canadian Paraplegic Association. For several years, Najma sat on the editorial board of The Litigator, a quarterly publication by the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association. More recently, she taught civil litigation in the law clerks’ program at Algonquin College. She is an avid writer on insurance-related topics and her articles have appeared in The Litigator, the Ottawa Business Journal and The Lawyers Weekly.

Najma was born and raised in Ottawa. She has a Bachelor of Arts (honours) degree in English from Carleton University, a law degree from the University of Ottawa and a Master of Laws degree from Queen’s University. She has been a member of the Ontario Bar since 1999.
